The "Zoomer" Faster than a Newton... NOT! I had the opportunity to use the "Zoomer" side by side with my Newton and the Newton leaves the "Zoomer" in the dust. With the "Zoomer" ever time I PRINTED a word I got the WinDOZE hourglass and then it MIGHT recognize what I PRINTED. Seems that "SuperFast" 8088 processor (8 bit 8MHZ) is lacking some serious horsepower. The Newton's (32 Bit 20MHZ you do the math) ARM 610 chip has MORE processing power than a 68040 or a 486/50.
Try sitting down with the Newton and really learning it, you will find out that the "Zoomer" is really underpowered. By the way last time I saw a 8088 computer at the USED store it was selling for about $50.00 Casio and R/S are getting $700.00 for 10 year-old technology. To each his own!Subj: Can you hold that 8088...

...computer that you saw for $50.00 in your palm? Can you use a pen interface with it? Does it come with the communications protocol with it? Or does all that stuff come extra with special tweaking neccessary?

By the way, the Zoomer needs to be reset occasionally to free up loose memory, and it will run much better. Additionally, most people that can print properly, seldom have a problem with word recognition. Beats having to spend three months or more teaching a computer to read your writing, rather than being productive with it at the start.
