Subject: Flash Memory problems

On another front, I borrowed a 10meg Sundisc card and was both pleased
and irritated. Pleased because I plugged it in, and it appeared as a
new file system, and "just worked". However, I copied the GEOWORKS
folder to it, just to see how long it would take (took a while), then
I threw the folder away, and in the middle of deleting, touched one of
the application launcher icons. The delete hung at that point, with
the cursor as an hourglass, and nothing responding.
I let it sit for a couple minutes, just in case it was cleaning
something up, then rebooted. The card still showed up as one of the
drives, but if I tried to make it the active drive, I got an error
kinda like "the pointer to that object has been deleted" (I would have
kept notes of error numbers, but I was in a meeting with no paper and
pen, since that's what I use the Zoomer for). Trying to reformat the
card failed with a different FM error, trying to rename it failed, and
trying to save a file to the 'C' drive failed. Basically, the card
was unusable, and there was no way to make it usable with the Zoomer.
So, I stopped by the office of a coworker with a HP100, he stuck the
card in, we saw all the files, nothing seemed wrong with the file
system, and we reformatted the card, all with no problems. Stuck it
back in the Zoomer, and it worked fine. I couldn't reproduce this the
second time I tried it, but I'm pretty much convinced that if I
pounded a bit, I could easily get it to fail.
Perhaps I should go buy an HP machine as a maintenance unit for my
Zoomer. Anyone know if the Connection kit runs on an HP100?
