Did all of that to no avail. Left it out for 10 minutes in fact, got
the same errors when any access was attempted.

Also, if I tried to access the hosed card, then when it failed, tried
to remove it, I got the dialog box that said "the card you removed is
in use, reinsert it". If I then reinserted it, the Zoomer locked up,
and I had to reboot.

I've also yanked the card, put it back in, deleted things, and added
them, all with no problems. In general, it works pretty well. What I
did that caused the failure was to hit one of the 'launcher' icons
when it was deleting mega stuff from the card. I didn't yank the card
while the delete was in progress (well, after waiting several minutes
for the file it was working on to be deleted, I finally rebooted, but
at that point it was pretty obvious the machine was frozen), but I
didn't yank the card until it was obvious the card was toast.

Now, I don't expect this stuff to be solid as a rock. I expect some
problems, and this seems like a good place to share them so people in
the proper places have something to try to reproduce. Perhaps this
was a once in a lifetime failure, and it'll never happen again. I've
tried to reproduce it, and it swaps applications just dandy, no
lockups, no corruption.
