 Thanks to everyone for the many replies to my novice questions. :)
The memory leak problem is fairly annoying - I must admit. :( Please
let me know when someone writes a utility to blow these things away
intelligently (i.e. not tamper with world time, forms, etc., if at
all possible). I ordered my serial cable through Radio Shack today.
That leaves one question: is there a terminal program that will run
on the Zoomer? Preferably something compact since I don't have an
additional memory card yet and will have to keep the executable in
the precious onboard RAM. 
 Another question, now that I think about it: what is the suggested
memory expansion card for the Zoomer? The ZipZing! from Geoworks looks
nice but isn't shipping yet. Any others? Are flashRAM cards worthwhile?
I'm a little lost confused on the issue of their finite lifespan...
