To use your Zoomer with a modem at 9600 baud you must set both the
preferences of the Zoomer to 9600 AND in the setup of the AOL app also set up
the baud rate to 9600 with the correct node phone number.

It may be the case that the initial "new user" setup via the 800# only allows
2400 baud, after which you must go in and redo the communications setup.
