I have had problems with settings higher than the default twice now. One
of which resulted in having to send the unit in for repair, since it
wouldn't come back on even after multiple Hard Resets and sitting for two
days with all of the batteries out and terminals shorted. I've also had
the transfer freeze, and found it very difficult to regain control of
both my PC and the Zoomer.
I've suggested that some warning about this be added to the FAQ, and I
caution users to be careful if trying higher speeds. The serious problem
that arose for me, was due to transferring an INI file to the unit and
not knowing it was corrupted before rebooting. After the reboot, I got a
"corrupted" message, and every reboot after that made matters worse. In
the end, it was completely dead - blank screen. It took over a month to
get it back, due to shipping problems.
My PC didn't have a buffered I/O card when this happened (it does now!),
so perhaps that had something to do with it. Another possibility is that
there's some difference in hardware/software on different Zoomers. I'd
sure like to have faster transfers, and will probably test it again now
that my PC is upgraded. You can bet that I'm going to be very careful
though! ;>
Thanks for all your tips, and for the INI file posting.
