Re: Online Services?

The Zoomer comes with America Online built in. The available AOL services
are limited but not unreasonable, including Tandy forum and PDA forum access
and, of course, email. The ability to compose offline is included, but easy
offline storage of mail isn't.

If you buy at least a megabyte of extra RAM you can get Compuserve for Geos,
which requires the extra RAM. Its feature support is even more limited than
AOL, but considering that all the features (Mail, News, Stock Quotes and
Weather ) are"basic" services with no online time charges beyond the 9.95
monthly fee, it's not bad. The Mail feature allows offline creation of mail
and selective retrieval of messages directly into an Out-box in RAM, so you
can read and reply to messages offline (and pick and choose which messages
you even want to look at, since Compuserve charges a litte for Internet
messages, which is applied against a monthly mail credit.)

I'm not too sure of the new numbers, which take effect Feb 1 and are more
generous with mail charges and add only a dollar to the monthly fee
(currently $8.95). If you also go online with a PC, they're increasing their
Basic Services by quite a bit as well.

I prefer CIS over AOL, both on and off my Zoomer.

Hope that helps.
