>From the day we got the first Zoomer spec sheet at Radio Shack, I've waited
for that to happen. Radio Shack does a complete inventory every quarter, and
it's a pain in the butt. All that would need to be done is to write the app
for the Zoomer, ship the app on a card to each store along with a bar code
wand, add Zoomer linking support to the inventory module of the POS system,
and Presto! Inventory time is cut in half.
The Zoomer would go around to take the counts, link with the PC in the back,
eliminating tedious data entry, and receive information of descrepancies,
which it would go back and correct. A final link would end it. When wireless
was as feasible, all the reconciliation could be done on the fly, halving the
time again.
It would be cheap to implement, as all the stores would already have a
Zoomer. Leave out the bar code wand, and it's even cheaper. I'm still waiting.
