Subject: more results: Ensemble apps on Zoomer
Status: RO
OK, I groped the apps for library file hints (at Chuck's suggestion) and found a
couple of libraries which I hadn't dragged over. Once they were there, Calc,
Draw, File, and Write came to life. Of course I haven't tested them beyond
superficially, but they do come up and at have some amount of basic
functionality. They're quite sluggish, as one would expect. Unlike Ensemble
1.X, the 2.0 product isn't supposed to run very well below a 286-level CPU. I
had run 2.0 a little bit on a V30-based notebook computer (V30 being roughly
equivalent to an 8086) and the performance is similar on the Zoomer. Still,
it's nice to have these apps available. I'm particularly interested in using
GeoFile for data capture and GeoDraw for more sketching, beyond the current
capabilities of FormFactor and Palm's apps. It remains to be seen whether the
sluggishness will render these apps unusable. Later, I'll post details of what
I moved onto the Zoomer to get it to its current state of operation.
