I want this too! I've played around with a 40Khz Radio Shack IR detector and
just get garbage, even though I get good data on the direct RS-232
connection. So I suspect the IR modulation frequency is different than the
40Khz used for TVs and VCRs. I saw one mention of 100KHz...but don't have
any data to support this.
Bottom line: Getting connectivity to a PC via the IR port is going to be
easy once the technical parameters of the port (IR modulation freq., etc) are
known. It is straight serial data, just shoved out a different hole.
I've made several inquiries on this list for help, especially someone who has
a technical manual or knows where to get one. No reponse, but maybe this
will be my lucky day...
