Subject: Re: Time to Load Palm Note Book
Status: RO
Roughly speaking, the net time to access a Notebook is:
(P*(T*t))+W
Where T = the ave. # characters/page
     P = # pages
     t = time to load a T's worth of text
     W = time spent "optimizing" the notebook structure

Empirical testing: 2 notebooks: a] w/1screen of text per page on 20
pages (identical text each page). The other, b] w/7 screens of
identical text on 3 pages. Total text in both notebooks is the same.
Both notebooks = ~12k bytes. Both loaded w/Notebook app NOT in
cache.

Loading a] 13 secs.
Loading b] 11 secs.
Time spent tweaking the structure: 9 minutes
Conclusion: It takes as long as it takes!

People should structure their notebooks according to the logic of the
information contained.
