Subject: Time to Load Palm Note Book
Status: RO
How does the time required to load the Palm Note Book depend on
the size of the current notebook document? I'm hoping someone
at Palm or elsewhere could can a predictive formula for time to
load (TTL) of the form:
TTL = k1 + (k2 * N) milliseconds
where k1 and k2 are constants and N is the number of pages in
the document, and the Note Book is not already resident.
I can imagine the TTL might also depend on the sizes of the
pages in the document (e.g. if they have lots of graphical
content), or that the relationship might be non-linear with
respect to one or the other of these variables. That's OK:
*any* kind of predictive model would be useful.
Customers need this information so they can structure their
data in ways that make intelligent use of the product.
If it isn't clear from context, this question is regarding load
times on the (incredibly slow) Zoomer PDA hardware, not on a
desktop workstation.
Any responses are welcome, either via the list or in private
mail. If you reply in private mail, please indicate whether
I may include your reply in a summary message to the list.
