Here's an interesting snip from the Christian Science Monitor via EDUPAGE:

PDAs TALK FIRST, COMPUTE LATER
The new wave of Personal Digital Assistants, or PDAs, will
concentrate on communications rather than computing. For example, the
Motorola Envoy will be able to send and receive hand-written and typed
messages by telephone, by infrared link to other Envoys, or by a 2-way
wireless network. Hewlett-Packard, Novell and Geoworks are planning a PDA
for under $500, and Sony, Compaq, and Toshiba will join a revamped Apple
Newton MessagePad to give consumers a range of options. (Christian Science
Monitor 4/22/94 p.10)
